Punch me
I am reading a new book, called, "Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media" by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky. It is about propaganda in America, or more precisely, the way powerful corporations are conglomerating the media into fewer and fewer avenues by which we can recieve information. By narrowing our opinions through bombardment and forcing our attention away from issues that are not politcally advantageous, our view of the world is partially defined. Like, for example, the massacres that are taking place in Sudan of christians. George W. Bush, who ran a campaign based on his "moral values" acted only after pressure from christian groups was focussed on him before his campaign. His action? To denounce the genocide. Thousands of poeple are killed everyday and we will not hear about it on the evening news simply because our government doesn't want us to. Christian, Muslim, Jew, Islami, whatever...if you don't worship power, then your world is not your own. Allow your faith or belief to guide you without the need for religion. I haven't read the whole Bible, but what I have read lead me to think that killing was wrong, lying was wrong, greed was wrong. Our "leaders" are not religious. Our "leaders" are not moral. Our "leaders" don't have a conscience. Our "leaders" are not spiritual. They worship power, not Jesus, not Jehova, not Allah. They don't even worship money. You are lied to a thousand times a day in more ways than you realize and still you sit there and when someone tries to open your eyes to them you think to yourself, " I hate this conspiracy theory shit." If you sought out just two sources completely outside the mass media, you'd be surprised at what America has done to the world. What America is doing to the world. All I am suggesting is that you try, that you be aware. Read any book by Noam Chomsky or go to www.alernativeradio.org .
